“What Camera is That?”
I am flooded with the question in the comment section of everything that I post, and in every private inbox I have, what equipment do I use?
LISTEN- everything you are about to see is entirely free that I have discovered myself. You do not need me to tell you everything that I’m using and I advise against doing so, but I am asked so often, that I will just give the answer. I am not a film expert, I am not a director, I am not an actor, I am not a film tech enthusiast, I am just a regular guy. I am also not a wealthy individual by any means, I come from poverty and a broken home, but things have since turned around for my family and for that; I am incredibly grateful. I have a roof over my head and often times I have food in my belly, and for this alone I can’t even begin to express my gratitude. Aside from that, I can’t afford much and disposable income doesn’t hang around me very often, so I needed affordable quality. It still put a dent in me, but I feel that the compromise was worth what I have for what I can do with it. I do NOT use top rated expensive equipment. I wanted to create an environment where I could point and shoot, and not have to worry very much about anything technical. I spent hours researching how to accomplish this and I believe I have come up with what works best for me. I operate entirely alone, so this was a major factor for me as well. I needed to be able to operate alone, with basically no prior knowledge, experience, or formal training. Film technicalities and equipment operation can quickly start to sound like a foreign language, and a lot of very very smart people put years into each individual component of film. I’m just a regular guy, so I created something that I feel works for a regular guy. Chances are, if you are a videographer, photographer, or a professional in this industry, you know significantly, and I mean SIGNIFICANTLY more than me. I am just making this as a disclaimer to anyone out there, I am NOT an expert. Just a guy.
